Good morning, my name is Jack. It is truly a great honor to have this opportunity for an interview. I would like to answer any questions you may raise, and I hope I can make a good performance today, eventually enrolling in this prestigious university in September.
Now, I will introduce myself briefly. I am 21 years old, born in Heilongjiang Province, in the northeast of China. I am currently a senior student at Beijing XX University, where my major is Packaging Engineering. I will receive my Bachelor's degree after my graduation in June. In the past four years, I have spent most of my time studying and have passed CET4/6 with ease. I have acquired basic knowledge of packaging and publishing, both in theory and in practice.
Besides, I have attended several packaging exhibitions held in Beijing. This is an advantage of studying here; I have also toured some large factories and companies. Through these experiences, I have gained a deep understanding of the domestic packaging industry. Compared to developed countries like the U.S., unfortunately, although we have made extraordinary progress since 1978, our packaging industry is still underdeveloped, messy, and unstable. The situation of employees in this field is awkward. However, I am fully confident in a bright future if our economy can maintain its growth pace.
I guess you may be interested in the reason why I am drawn to law and what my plans are during graduate study life. I would like to tell you that pursuing law is one of my lifelong goals. I like my major in packaging, and I won't give up on it. If I can pursue my Master's degree here, I will combine law with my previous education.
I will work hard in these fields—patent, trademark, copyright—building on my years of study in the Department of Packaging and Publishing. As for my character, I cannot describe it well, but I know I am optimistic and confident. Sometimes I prefer to stay alone, reading or listening to music, but I am not lonely. I like to chat with my classmates, and we talk about almost everything. My favorite pastimes are badminton, playing cards, or surfing the internet.
Through college life, I have learned how to balance study and entertainment. By the way, I was an actor in our drama club and have a few glorious memories on stage. That is my pride.
A Letter Applying for Admission to a University
July 18, 2014
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to apply for admission to your university to pursue my M.S. degree. I found that your university has the best graduate program of biology and I am greatly interested in the program.
I graduated in 2008 from Peking University, majoring in biology and holding a bachelor's degree. At university, I took many fundamental courses in biology. My English is excellent as I used to be the chairperson of English Association for two years. After graduation, I have been teaching biology in Capital Normal University. Through my teaching experience, I have not only deepened my understanding in this field, but mastered many advanced research skills as well.
Two of my former professors and the present dean of our department have kindly written letters of recommendation for me, as enclosed with this letter. Thank you very much. I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Li Ming
