道家叫人要经常咽津液，咽津液则自然纳气，气跟着津液一直送到胃再到丹田。但怎样才知道津液是化了气了呢？很少人提到这个问题。当气由督脉上升到达头顶，慢慢到舌头牙齿缝，甜甜的津液，不是白糖的甜，而是自然的甜味，源源而来。不要经常咽，等满口时，舌头翘起，不要像喝茶般地粗咽；要轻轻地、慢慢细细地咽，送下胃，自然气下沉，自然到达丹田。女人则沉到胃（中宫）为止。神凝气住，此即化了。津液变甜了，佛法谓之甘露，甘露未来即气未化，这是说的咽津纳气。试看满堂人打坐，还有修行很久的人，几人有这种清凉而带甜的口水？太少了，年轻人容易，但甜的还没有来，气未化，老年人则口里干干燥燥的。咽津纳气，久而久之，皮肤及全身都是另一番滋润了，有如温玉。咽津纳气如蒸馏水。精化气，气化神，乃至神还虚都是化学作用。炼精即身上后天之精变成先天之精；炼气即是由转河车，在此轨道上再蒸馏一番即是。何谓蒸馏？水蒸馏后，最干净的蒸到锅盖上，由顶上一滴一滴地滴下来，于干净净的，一点杂质都没有。故炼精化气，即是将此后天之精蒸馏、提炼，化了，变成甜的津液下来，才是化了气。然后此津液配合上各种荷尔蒙，在身中若再经过一段时间“定”的酝酿，依天然规律，气脉会再起变化，此类精气所化的津液再变而为“神”，即光明。从科学知识，吾人知道，宇宙中时间空间有尽，光是无尽的，光也是遍满虚空净法界。再进一步，夜是黑光，昼是白光，超出地球外，与其他星球之间的光，又非现在所见的光。现在看到的光只是太阳反射的光波，经过虚空中许多尘垢物质后所看到的光，不是光本身的体相。
